Brief Profile of the Department      Chemical sector of India is one of the major industries in the Indian economy. Chemical sciences (Chemistry) offer access to a wide range of careers. Chemistry is the study of substances, their makeup and applications. In fact it is the study of all materials and is vital to every aspect of our lives. Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical chemistry and Biochemistry are the main branches of chemistry. The career options in chemistry are practically endless! However, employment options depend on how far the education, training and experience taken. Especially master’s and Ph.D. degree provides immense career opportunities in industries, research and teaching fields. A chemistry or biochemistry degree can lead to career paths in professions such as medicine, pharmacology, agriculture, chemical engineering, forensic science, etc.

1 Laboratory facilities:- Well Equipped Laboratories for U.G.&P.G. Students ,Well furnished and maintained ensuring optimal utilization of infrastructure facilities.Set with modern and sophisticated instruments,Such as Photoflourimeter, UV-VIS Spectrometer, FlamePhotometer, Polarimeter, Colorimeters, Refractometer, Microscopes, Automatic Titrator, Ion Analyzer , millipore deionized water system, Sohxlet Apparatus, Kleavenger Apparatus, Kjeldahl apparatus , fume hood, water analysis kit, conductometer, potentiometer, pH meter etc.
2 Departmental Library:- Our departmental library is rich in reference books & journals.
Achievements of the Department
1 2014-15Shubhjit Aich Roy working as JRF in MPPCB Bhopal.
2 2013-14Tarun Kumar Ahirwar (BSc. Ist yr) worked on project ‘Frusta Flour’ under the scheme of Innovator Promotion Scheme of M.P. Council of Science and Technology,Bhopal.
3 2012-13 Four students of B.Sc III year got placements in ACC.
4 Arwa Hussain B.Sc IIIyear student got placement in TCS
5 Sumitra Giri (M.Sc) joined as SRF in Indian Institute of soil sciences.
6 Sumit Sharma(M.Sc) Working as Analyst in Quality Control Lab HEG Mandideep Bhopal.

2 Enriched departmental Library with software related to chemistry-CHEMSKETCH, ARGUS, CHEMDRAW, DRAGON, MOLE SOFT.

4 Our Department is well aware of its social responsibilities Vocational Training programs for the weaker section of society to familiarize them with – Preservation techniques, Candle making, Detergent & Floor cleaners manufacture, Making Soft toys, Tie & die Method, Lecture session on “Healthy food habits.”
5 Industrial visits, Guest lectures.
Future Plans of the Department
1 Proposed Courses: M. Phil. Chemistry, M.Sc. with Chemo informatics, Material Science, Nanotechnology Workshops on research oriented topics, entrepreneurship development and small scale industries. Development of Green House, Medicinal Herb Garden Projects related to Biodiversity of nearby areas and their impact on environment.
2 Inter Disciplinary Courses, Multi skill Development, Career Centric, Value added programs Disaster management –Diploma course and certificate course.
