After completing his B.Sc. from Scottish Church College, Kolkata from University of Calcutta, he acquired M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from R.D. University Jabalpur. Besides, he has also having PG Diploma in Tribal Studies from R.D. University Jabalpur and Master in Population Science from International Institute for Population Science, Mumbai, to his credit which finds relevance in his writing on urban studies, demography, health and other related issues by following an integrated interdisciplinary approach. Composition and Determinants of Non-Farm Employment in Tribal Districts of Madhya Pradesh” He was Research Officer in IIPS Mumbai in 1993 then joined as faculty-administrative officer at Maharishi Institute of Management, Noida in 1995 later on he went to Arunachal Pradesh to serve as Assistant Professor in Government College, Bomdila and as an Associate Professor in Govt College, Tezu. Since october 2012 he is serving as Professor of Economics in Madhya Pradesh, earlier in Govt LBS PG College Sironj ,Vidisha and at present in Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Professor Sharma is a recipient of Doctoral Fellowship from ICSSR , New Delhi and Ministry of Welfare , Govt. of India. In his 22 years in academia he has delivered hundreds of named lectures and invited lectures at various institutions of repute and in seminar conferences and in Academic Staff Colleges of India. He has served on numerous committees, advisory boards, board of studies, and Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Regional Science, Kolkata. Sodh Pratiman, Muzzafarpur and Journal of Innovations in Management Engineering and Technology (JIMET) New Delhi and also acted as Referees for the journals like Assam Economic Journal Dibrugarh, Tribal Health Bulletin Jabalpur and Resarun, Itanagar.
